Moon River - Carrick's Luxury Pleasure Cruiser

P4060018

A question for you ... who applied the graphics to Carrick's pleasure cruiser "Moon River"? Not many people know, but the answer is Boyle man, creator of Moone Boy and Hollywood actor Chris O'Dowd. Some days before it's launch Chris, with his dad Sean (who designed the logo and graphics), were hard at work finishing off and applying the visuals to Moon River.
Since then Moon River has become one of the iconic symbols for Carrick-on-Shannon's many great attractions.

MadBid

A new phenomenon is developing in Europe and North America ...clearance penny auction websites. Everywhere on the web, in blogs, you can read stories about happy winners who 'won' amazing products, usually quite expensive, for a pittance. "On MadBid the items come from closing stores, clearance auctions and bankruptcies. It’s because they get their products so cheap that they are able to offer such low prices compared to the usual selling price."

Newly elected County Councillor Maura Hopkins has been selected as the Fine Gael candidate for the Roscommon/South Leitrim by-election. Maura is an occupational therapist and was elected in May to represent the Boyle electoral area. Councillor Hopkins said: "I care deeply for the future of my town, my county, my region."
Maura Hopkins has been very visible in the Boyle area for quite some time. I have not seen Ivan Connaughton and John Kelly in the area sinc the last election, but maybe that's just me! I guess they will appear before election day.

Crusade? ...

Many will be aware the I promote the idea that Carrick and Boyle are two neighbouring towns in a beautiful part of Ireland. I believe that it would benefit both towns greatly, if in some arenas, we were to promote and advertise jointly.
» We share a commonality, but are yet different in so many ways. In trading, attractions and other areas, what one town lacks, the other can supply. Both towns have excellent shops, the N4 and rail links. Boyle has King House, Boyle Abbey, its Musical Society, Civic Art Collection etc while Carrick has its hotels, cinema, swimming pool, The Dock etc., and all are no more than a 15 minute car journey from each other.
